Barcelona ready to pay cut-price fee to fast-track winter move for 18-year-old Spanish winger

La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly willing to pay €2 million to sign 18-year-old Spanish winger Antonio Cordero from Malaga in the January transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Radio MARCA Malaga, as relayed by SPORT, Antonio Cordero is the subject of interest from Barcelona. While the Blaugrana can sign the Malaga winger in a Bosman move in the 2025 summer transfer window, they are ready to cough up €2 million to fast-track the move for the 18-year-old prodigy this winter.

Who is Antonio Cordero?

Antonio Jose Cordero Campillo, also known as Antonito, is the latest highly-rated attacking prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. The European giants continue to produce promising prodigies every year, and the Spaniard has already broken into the first-team squad at Malaga CF.

A native of Jerez de la Frontera, the teenage prospect spent his formative years with over half a dozen clubs, graduating from the youth division at CD San Felix. However, Antonito returned to Malaga last year and has already become a regular for the first-team squad at La Rosaleda.

The Spanish winger has turned out nearly 50 times thus far for Malaga while chipping in with four goals and five assists. Meanwhile, Cordero’s progress at the Andalusian club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of high-profile clubs across Europe. Recent reports have linked him with Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Manchester United. However, Barcelona might be his next destination.

Barcelona adventure beckons?

Barcelona’s interest in Antonio Cordero is understandable. The Catalan giants constantly scour the Spanish market and beyond for highly-rated prospects, with the outlook helping them in their current financial predicament. With Pedri, Gavi, and many others making their mark for Barcelona, the thought process has been successful.

Recent reports have linked Barcelona with several highly-rated prodigies, including Souza, with Antonito also a viable target for the Blaugrana. The latest update by SPORT has suggested that the Catalan giants are ready to cough up €2 million to sign the Spaniard in the January transfer window.

While Barcelona can wait until the summer transfer window to land Cordero in a Bosman move, they want to fast-track the deal. So, a move worth €2 million might be on the cards for the 18-year-old Spanish winger next month.
