Man United'stance'on Lisandro Martinez'interest'amid Marcus Rashford exit warning

Lisandro Martinez in action for United.

Manchester United are reportedly "willing" to sell Lisandro Martinez.

Has there ever been a quiet day for Manchester United? After losing to Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening - and terminating Dan Ashworth's contract on Sunday morning - United have been busy in the past week.

Tuesday saw a number of shock reports emerge from Old Trafford, on and off the pitch. Sir Jim Ratcliffe's overhaul of the club has split opinion among the fanbase and there could be more changes to come, judging by reports.

Following news of Christmas parties being axed, ticket prices increasing and Ineos' gift to staff, our focus, here, is on the proceedings on the field and within Ruben Amorim's squad.

After a busy summer transfer window and dismissal of Ashworth, eyes will be on United's work in January, not to mention next summer, as the rebuild continues at Old Trafford. Here, we take a look at the latest news, views and rumours circulating around United;

Shock Martinez exit stance

A fire-sale could be coming at United and if reports are to be believed, a possible exit for the popular Lisandro Martinez could be on the cards. According to talkSPORT, the club would not rule out selling the defender if Real Madrid coughed up for him.

The 26-year-old is a fan favourite at Old Trafford - after signing from Ajax under Erik ten Hag. However, the report insists that Martinez isn't considered "off limits" in January and Real's interest could ignite a surprising deal.

United paid £57million for the Argentina international in 2022.

MEN Sport says: "This is a story which has shocked supporters and it's clear to see why. When fit and at the top of his game, Martinez is one of Amorim's first name on the team-sheet. However, him being reportedly "available" due to Ineos' fire-sale would be the perfect example of the hierarchy wanting to start fresh.

"Before the end of last season, reports came out that every player was available for the right price. That felt odd at the time and cracks in the surface are now suggesting the same thing. It's almost as though Ineos have decided Martinez isn't part of the long-term plan and work is being done to sell.

"If Martinez brings in around the fee they paid for him in 2022, United will be laughing. It isn't known whether or not Amorim fancies the defender. That money could be spent to bring in a player who he likes, such as Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP."

Rashford concern a warning

On the same day that reports of Martinez's potential exit emerged, it was reported by The Telegraph that United are open to cutting ties with Marcus Rashford.

It's suggested the forward is "fighting to save" his career at United after the club were willing to selling him in the summer. A transfer to Saudi Arabia or Paris Saint-Germain are claimed to be options, given his whopping reported £325,000-a-week wages.

MEN Sport says: "Whether a deal comes to fruition or not, reports of two key players being available for transfer is a warning of things to come for Amorim. A fire-sale of key players, excluding Kobbie Mainno and Alejandro Garnacho, would see the United boss cut to the bare bones.

"Selling Rashford is, despite his critics, a difficult one. He is United through and through. Even added to players like Martinez, Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes, they are all crucial players to Amorim and United. If reports are true, it should be a concern.."
