Martin Allen has advised West Ham not to sign Carlos Soler on a permanent deal.
The 27-year-old arrived at the London Stadium in the summer on a season-long loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain.
However, despite featuring in all but one game since his arrival, he has been used as a substitution on more occasions than being named in the starting line-up.
He has found his game time increase of late after providing an assist in his side’s loss against Arsenal on 30 November but Allen still feels as though he is not one to keep on the books after this season as when asked if he would sign him permanently he posted on X: “Erm. I need some time to think about that one. No.”
Could Carlos Soler turn it around at West Ham?
Although Soler hasn’t had the most groundbreaking of starts to life at the London Stadium, it’s not been the easiest environment to thrive in given the Hammers have struggled to adapt to life under Julen Lopetegui.

The East London outfit currently find themselves nine places above the relegation zone after their victory against Wolves [9 December] but if they fail to find consistency, they could soon slip closer towards the relegation spots again.
The Spaniard seems to have stepped it up personally in the last couple of weeks though and even though his side lost against Arsenal, it was a good opponent for him to show his contributions against and he has been rewarded with continuing to get a place in the starting line-up.
It’s not a surprise that at this moment Allen, the former Hammer, remains unconvinced of his ability to contribute enough to the team in the long term to warrant converting this from a loan deal to anything more.
Furthermore, with continued questions over the future of Lopetegui at the London Stadium, this only adds to the uncertainty of the future of a loan player at the club.
However, if the midfielder can continue to improve his form going forward then it will only help his chances of cementing his long-term future in East London.
In other West Ham news, Troy Deeney has picked this Hammer in his TOTW after what he did in the victory against Wolves.
