On December 3, 2024, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji met with Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Beijing.
Zhao Leji said that China and Nepal have always respected each other, treated each other as equals, and pursued mutual benefit, setting a good example of friendly coexistence between countries with different social systems and sizes. China is willing to work with Nepal to implement the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, expand high-level strategic cooperation, and promote the in-depth development of China-Nepal strategic partnership of cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship for development and prosperity. China's NPC is willing to strengthen exchange at all levels with the Nepali Parliament, share legislative experience, and provide legal guarantees for practical cooperation between the two countries.
KP Sharma Oli said that Nepal and China are good friends, good neighbors and good partners. Nepal attaches great importance to developing its relations with China, firmly adheres to the one-China principle, and firmly supports and actively participates in the Global Development Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping. Nepal is willing to deepen Belt and Road cooperation with China and strengthen exchanges among legislatures to achieve common development and prosperity.
