**Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard believes Ethan Nwaneri will only “get better and better” in the future.**
Asked about the 17-year-old’s potential in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Monaco game on Wednesday night, Odegaard said:
“I’ve been trying to help him in many different ways. For a young player sometimes it’s best to help him be himself and don’t be too much on him. For him, it’s about showing his talent and keep on going.”
“For his age to play with such confidence and eagerness I’m really proud of him. He will just get better and better.”
When asked about how good Nwaneri could become, Odegaard said the sky is the limit for the teenager:
“I don’t want to put too much pressure on him but he’s an unbelievable player. I don’t see him as a talent – I see him as a really good player.”
Nwaneri is already showing the world what he can do
---------------------------------------------------
The attacking midfielder has grabbed his chance when handed opportunities by manager Mikel Arteta so far this season.
Nwaneri has scored three goals for the Gunners in the Carabao Cup, having started in both rounds of the competition so far.
The youngster has also made substitute appearances in the Premier League and the Champions League, scoring his first league goal against Nottingham Forest last month.
Pennant says Nwaneri will thrive at Arsenal if he remains “patient”
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking exclusively to [**_GoonerNews.com_**](https://goonernews.com/blog), former Arsenal player Jermaine Pennant echoed Odegaard’s thoughts on Nwaneri’s potential.
Pennant claims he is a “very, very exciting young talent” and although, he believes he will become a “starter at some point”, he has called on Nwaneri to stay “patient” and wait for first-team opportunities.
Based on what we have seen, Nwaneri could well become a mainstay in the starting lineup very soon.
