Report: Chelsea transfer news: Blues midfielder set to re-sign for former club in January

Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is reportedly wanted by Leicester City ahead of the January window.

The 26-year-old made the high-profile switch from the King Power Stadium to Stamford Bridge before the start of the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

Forking out £30m for his services, it was expected that Chelsea would fully integrate Dewsbury-Hall into the first-team plans with Enzo Maresca in charge.

However, the midfielder has been limited to just five appearances in the Premier League so far, totalling a mere 56 minutes of top-flight action.

Dewsbury-Hall has been a regular appearance-maker in the Conference League, though, and should play a key role for Chelsea against Astana on Thursday afternoon.

Chelsea outcast Dewsbury-Hall edging towards Leicester return?

According to Football Insider, Chelsea could be waving goodbye to the serious talents of Dewsbury-Hall after just a few months in West London.

The report claims that the Blues have made the 26-year-old available for a switch away from Stamford Bridge during the upcoming transfer window.

With Dewsbury-Hall seemingly on the market, it is understood that newly-promoted Leicester are plotting a plan to bring the player back to the East Midlands.

As Chelsea supposedly demand at least £30m for the signature of the former Luton Town loanee, the Foxes are said to be considering a loan deal for the player.

Ruud van Nistelrooy's troops are set to face stiff competition in race for Dewsbury-Hall in January, with Champions League-competing Aston Villa keen on the midfielder.

Dewsbury-Hall's Leicester history

Dewsbury-Hall was a metronomic and talismanic figure in the Leicester midfield last season as Maresca's men cantered to the Championship crown.

Understandably there was interest from clubs higher up the pecking order for the 26-year-old, who provided 27 goal contributions from the engine room across 2023-24.

The Foxes' survival hopes suffered a serious dent the moment Dewsbury-Hall packed his bags over the summer and made a beeline for the Blues of Chelsea.
