Rugby League Las Vegas
NFL legend Rob Gronkowski stars in an American commercial to advertise the upcoming rugby league takeover of Las Vegas.
Gronkowski, who boasts four Super Bowl rings after 11 years of playing in the NFL, is introduced as a ‘rugby league expert’ in the advert, which is aimed at an American audience and will be broadcast across the US this weekend. Eight teams will be heading to Las Vegas with four games to be played at the Allegiant Stadium on March 1.
Super League sides Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves get the action underway by playing the first game of the day and showcasing the very best the Northern Hemisphere has to offer. That round three fixture will be followed by the first of two NRL games with New Zealand Warriors meeting Canberra Raiders.
England Women will then take on Australia in a Test match before NRL champions Penrith Panthers take to the turf against Cronulla Sharks. It promises to be a day to remember for rugby league fans and the NRL has gone all out in its advertising campaign to sell it, using one of the most recognisable faces in American sport.
“You feel that?,” Gronkowski asks as the 30-second clip opens with a shot of a huge Joseph Tapine tackle on Reece Walsh. “That’s your off-season sorted.
“It’s football, but not as you know it. No pads, no armour, no time-outs.”
More brutal rugby league footage rolls, with the NRL clearly trying to sell the game on its physicality and ferocity.

The former tight end continues: “The very best rugby league players from around the world collide in Las Vegas. Eight teams, four games. That’s one epic ticket.
“Get your football fix with rugby league in Las Vegas.”
This will be the second consecutive year rugby league has been played at the Allegiant Stadium and it comes on the back of 2024’s success. An attendance of 40,746 attended the two-game event in March and the hope is that a significantly larger crowd could squeeze into the venue this time around.
