Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has strongly refuted reports suggesting the club is considering selling Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus in the upcoming January transfer window.
Speaking at a press conference, Arteta categorically dismissed the speculation, emphasizing his belief in the 27-year-old star despite his recent struggles.
Here's what he said (via GOAL):
"No, no sense. Like all strikers, they go through phases and moments, and that gap [in goals] is becoming big. A lot of things have indeed happened—injuries, absences, not starting games as much—but his attitude has been outstanding, it always is. We’re going to try to help him overcome the situation as soon as possible."
Gabriel Jesus has endured a tough campaign at Arsenal, managing just one goal across all competitions so far. His solitary strike came during the Gunners' 3-0 Round-of-16 Carabao Cup victory over Preston in October.
In the Premier League, Jesus has yet to find the back of the net in 12 appearances this season, with only two starts to his name.
The Brazilian’s struggles have seen him fall behind Kai Havertz in Arsenal’s attacking hierarchy. Rumors of a potential move for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak have further fueled uncertainty about Jesus’ future at the Emirates.

Despite his current form, Jesus remains under contract with Arsenal until 2027. However, his lack of playing time has not only impacted his club career but also his international prospects, as he recently lost his spot in the Brazil national team.
With Arsenal pushing for success in multiple competitions, including the Premier League and Champions League, he faces an uphill battle to reclaim a regular starting spot.
Jesus has made four appearances in the Champions League this season and will hope to feature in the side's upcoming clash against Monaco on Wednesday (December 11).
Arteta’s comments underline his confidence in Jesus’ ability to bounce back from this challenging period. The Gunners' boss reiterated that the striker’s work ethic remains strong and hinted that the club is committed to helping him rediscover his best form.
