AS Monaco will be dealing with injury issues of their own during their Champions League clash with Chelsea.

Arsenal and Monaco actually sit side-by-side in the play-off spots having each picked up 10 points from their first five games, and there will only be two games remaining after this one. Mikel Arteta’s men will be desperate to get back to winning ways after drawing with Fulham over the weekend, although they will be dealing with an ongoing injury crisis.

A number of defenders are sidelined, including Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Magalhaes, while Kieran Tierney remains a question mark. But Arsenal are not the only teams with injuries, with Monaco also dealing with some issues.

Former Gunner Folarin Balogun has been omitted from the travelling Monaco squad after suffering a setback with his shoulder injury despite initially returning from the blow. Balogun has netted 10 goals in 36 league games so far for Monaco.

Elsewhere, former Chelsea midfielder Denis Zakaria will also miss out after pulling up in the warm-up ahead of Monaco’s clash with Toulouse over the weekend. Monaco boss Adi Hütter has revealed: “As for Denis, who felt some pain during the warm-up before facing Toulouse, we do not want to take any risks with him. Denis is our captain and he is clearly the starter in defensive midfield, but we are also very satisfied with Soungoutou’s progress.

“He will be ready to play tomorrow, even if we have reduced the risks, but he trained yesterday and today without any problems and he will be available tomorrow.” Zakaria is a key player at the heart of Monaco’s midfield.
