NBA Brings Back ‘Jingle Hoops’ Ad With New Twist, And It’s Going Viral

The NBA has reignited the holiday spirit by reviving its iconic "Jingle Hoops" ad with a modern spin.

The updated version, called "Jingle Hoops Regifted," combines nostalgia with cutting-edge animation to promote its Christmas Day games. Released on social media, the ad has stirred a whirlwind of reactions among fans.

In the original 2013 commercial, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Derrick Rose, Steve Nash and Steph Curry performed precise shots synchronized to the melody of "Jingle Bells," capped by a thunderous dunk by LeBron James.

This year's animated version reunites Curry, Durant and James while introducing new stars, such as Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum and Anthony Edwards.

Cameos from Victor Wembanyama, Jalen Brunson and Tyrese Maxey added more fun to the modern rendition of the commercial.

The ad, posted on X, also featured playful appearances by ESPN's Malika Andrews and a bobblehead version of NBA commentator Mike Breen.

Fans were quick to share their thoughts on the animated reboot. While some praised the creativity, others expressed nostalgia for the original.

"This is actually so cool," a commenter said.

"Great job to the animators," another supporter shared.

However, criticism also poured in, reflecting mixed opinions.

"Doesn't hit like the original did," a follower shared.

A fourth poster stated, "Couldn't they just have used the real players again?"

The use of Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) allowed for over-the-top basketball stunts that would be impossible in real life, but some fans felt this approach lacked the authenticity of the original.

"Not as cool as the original which was simple and not this over the top," one commenter noted.

"No need for real people anymore. Make everything with AI," another joked.

Despite divided reactions, the ad successfully builds excitement for the Christmas Day slate.
