Kirk Cousins’ 2024 stint with the Atlanta Falcons has not been up to the mark. Cousins started out well, but his last month’s performance has dipped drastically. The quarterback never recorded a touchdown in the last four games and he has eight picks. Looking at his performance, Falcons fans were adamant to have him benched.
Cousins is a veteran quarterback who has plenty of experience. Keeping that in mind, Head Coach Raheem Morris thinks that cousins should be the starter and help lead the Falcons to victory. Morris feels that Michael Penix Jr. will be the right support for Cousins to help him in his journey.
In the first four games, Kirk Cousins recorded four touchdowns and four interceptions. After which, he went on a stretch to record three picks and 13 touchdowns. Morris feels that Cousins deserves that credibility, but will he be willing to go against his fans to give the QB more ground?

Kirk Cousins’ Position Puts The Atlanta Falcons In A Dilemma
While benching Kirk Cousins may seem like the ultimate idea here for the Atlanta Falcons since the quarterback’s numbers have been quite low this season, this move may not be wise after all. Many are batting for Michael Penix Jr. to replace Kirk Cousins in the central position, but this also may not be a smart choice right now.

At the same time, looking up to Penix Jr. more right now can be about Atlanta’s future, and not exactly their present right now. Kirk Cousins simply has to digest it. Whatever decision the Falcons are going to make about their position on Cousins needs to be done quickly, with the team currently in second position of the NFC South after winning six games and losing seven so far.

In their last game, the Falcons played the Minnesota Vikings and lost abysmally 42-21. In that game, QB Kirk Cousins went for 344 yards, completing 23 passes out of 37 attempts, while managing a pair of interceptions. In terms of rushing, Bijan Robinson managed 22 carries for 92 yards, scoring once, while Darnell Mooney contributed six receptions for 142 yards on defense.
Next up, the Atlanta Falcons will be playing the Las Vegas Raiders, and this matchup will be another opportunity for Cousins to prove his spot in the team. The last time these two teams faced each other was back in 2020, and then the Falcons beat the Raiders with an incredible 43-6 final score.
