Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has been handed a two-match touchline ban after being sent off in the 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo.
The German was shown a straight red card for his reaction to a penalty being awarded against his side for a challenge by Frenkie de Jong on Vitor Roque.
It’s now been confirmed that he’s been banned for two games, meaning he will not be on the touchline for La Liga matches against Leganes and Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona are planning to appeal the sanction in the hope of getting it reduced.
Flick has spoken about his red card and admitted he didn’t understand why he had been sent off.
“I don’t understand it. It was a reaction on my part. I didn’t say anything specific to anyone,” he told reporters.
“They have been a long time to see if it was a penalty and that means it was doubtful.
“It’s my first sending off here, it was a reaction to myself.”
Footage has since emerged of Flick’s reaction to the red card and it certainly looks a very harsh decision to send him off and then add a two-game ban as well.
