Inter Miami have this week confirmed the exit of Diego Gomez, with the midfielder completing a club-record transfer to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Paraguay international was a key figure in the Herons’ squad this year with the 21-year-old talent emerging as a regular fixture for Tata Martino on Inter Miami’s way to winning the Supporters’ Shield and setting a new regular-season points tally.
Such performances caught the eye of top teams in Europe, yet it was Brighton who ultimately won the race for Gomez, with Inter Miami set to receive a club-record transfer fee for the former Club Libertad superstar.
And Gomez himself has now shared a message to Inter Miami fans with his move to Brighton completed.

Diego Gomez ‘grateful’ to Inter Miami as Brighton move is confirmed
Taking to Instagram, Gomez sent an emotional message to say goodbye to Inter Miami fans, with the midfielder posting: “I am grateful to Inter Miami for the incredible opportunity it gave me to join this fantastic organization and make history with the Club.
“I am grateful for the confidence the Club had in me and for everything it has done to assist me in my development since my arrival in July last year, becoming a better player and person on and off the playing fields. I will always carry Inter Miami in my heart!!”
With Gomez named MLS’s 22-Under-22 winner for 2024, the former Inter Miami maestro more than showed this season why he deserves a big-money move to the Premier League, especially to a club as promising this year as Brighton.
MORE INTER MIAMI STORIES
And if Gomez can impress in the Premier League in 2025 with the Seagulls, there’s a good chance that more Inter Miami youngsters could win moves to Europe, a trend that could allow the Herons to spend big on top-tier players in future windows.

Who else from Inter Miami has been linked with a January exit?
Inter Miami are set for a crazy January transfer window, and although much of the attention has focused on who could Javier Mascherano sign, departures have also been mentioned in the rumor mill.
Matias Rojas could potentially depart having been put up for the MLS Expansion Draft, with the Paraguay international impressing for Inter Miami having only signed earlier this year as a free-agent.
As well as Rojas, Facundo Farias has emerged as a target for Boca Juniors, with the South American giants interested in the Argentine youth international despite the young forward missing the entire year due to injury.
