Will GTA 6 make 2025 after all?

We all want to know the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date – why do you think we here at Daily Star so invested in its development? But we're yet to get anything since the game's first trailer which arrived over a year ago.

In the time since, fans have been analysing the phases of the moon in GTA Online, waiting for a PlayStation event that didn't materialise, checking the number of social media posts and even diving deep into a mystery YouTube playlist which turned out to be a glitch.

And, while the team at Rockstar is reportedly "geeking out" over fan theories, we're still waiting for anything outside of the game's expected 2025 launch window. Sadly, even that isn't a given.

GTA 6 release date could miss 2025

Earlier this week, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier suggested many other publishers are looking to stay out of GTA's way. In the time since, Schreier has appeared on Kinda Funny's Games Daily Podcast, and said he'd be "shocked" if GTA 6 actually made it out in 2025, citing Rockstar's history with other titles.

"I would be shocked if it actually made it next year," Schreier explained.

"I think that it will probably slip again because Rockstar games always slip," he added, pointing to Rockstar's history with Red Dead Redemption 2 which was delayed multiple times.

"I would be shocked if it doesn't slip to 2026," Schreier said.
