Barcelona willing to sacrifice two players to sign €75m Chelsea midfielder – Report

The FC Barcelona midfield has undergone significant changes since the end of the last season. One of the most important midfielders of the last season, İlkay Gündoğan, left the Catalan club to rejoin Manchester City, while Oriol Romeu also rejoined his former side Girona last summer.

Hansi Flick started this season with Marc Bernal as the pivot, while Pedri and Raphinha also played in the midfield. However, Bernal’s long-term injury ruled him out for the rest of the season, and Marc Casado took advantage of this situation to establish himself as a fixed starter for Flick.

Similarly, Dani Olmo has also been a starter for the German tactician whenever fit and available. However, this midfield can see even more changes in the next summer transfer window, as Fichajes reports that the Catalans remain interested in signing the €75m-rated Chelsea midfielder, Enzo Fernandez.

Chelsea paid €120 million to sign the Argentine two years ago, and Barcelona will have to spend a significant amount of money to land him, which could be a major obstacle for the cash-strapped Barcelona. Similarly, Chelsea are also not too keen to part ways with such an important player.

However, as per the report, the Catalans are thinking of getting over these problems by including two of their players in a deal for the Chelsea star, Ferran Torres and Frenkie de Jong.

Frenkie de Jong has not been able to play at his best since his recovery from injury, and he has been strongly linked with a move away from Barcelona in the last few weeks.

Similarly, Ferran Torres is also not having a lot of prominence in the team this season, and thus the two players might not be too averse to the idea of leaving the Blaugrana club.

There is no doubt that Fernandez’s arrival could be a significant boost for Flick’s midfield. However, he will not come cheap and it remains to be seen how this operation develops in the coming weeks.
