Virgil van Dijk is Liverpool’s captain and one of the club’s most important players.
The Dutchman joined the Reds for a world-record fee for a defender back in January 2018. He has been incredible since and has arguably been the biggest reason why they were so successful under Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp left last summer and Arne Slot is the man at the helm now, but Van Dijk has continued to be one of Liverpool’s best performers.
The new Liverpool boss is beyond pleased with his compatriot’s performances under him. So, he made a very strong recommendation to the club’s hierarchy recently.

Like Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk has entered the final year of his contract at Liverpool.
The 33-year-old will be allowed to speak to foreign clubs in January and even sign a pre-contract that would allow him to join them for free next summer.
However, TBR Football revealed recently that Van Dijk is not interested in leaving Liverpool, and his stance has been communicated to all the clubs interested in his signature
Slot wants to keep hold of Van Dijk, and he has made that clear to FSG.
SkySport.ch claim that the Liverpool manager has told his club’s American owners that keeping Van Dijk was worth more than signing all the young talents in the world.
The report adds that clubs in the Saudi Pro League and the MLS are interested in Van Dijk’s services and are prepared to offer him more money than Liverpool.
But, the Dutchman wants to stay.

How FSG responded to Slot’s message about Van Dijk
Slot made it absolutely clear to FSG that he wanted Van Dijk to stay, and it looks like Liverpool’s owners have listened to their manager.
The report confirms the news that Van Dijk has been sent a brand new contract by FSG. It has been claimed that the terms of this deal are close to the one that he signed when he last extended his contract in 2021.
Van Dijk wants to continue at Liverpool despite interest from abroad. The report says he has always given his priority to the Premier League leaders, and that is a huge positive for the Reds.
Now, it remains to be seen if the Netherlands star will accept the offer that has been sent to him. Van Dijk’s response, according to Sky, will be known ‘soon’.
