Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin Attends Reception for Outgoing SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming

On December 10, 2024, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin attended and addressed the reception for the outgoing Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Zhang Ming.

Liu Bin spoke highly of the contributions made by Secretary-General Zhang Ming during his tenure and said that the development of the SCO has provided strong support for cooperation among its member states and injected stability and certainty into a turbulent and evolving world. President Xi Jinping proposed building a common home of the SCO featuring solidarity and mutual trust, peace and tranquility, prosperity and development, good-neighborliness and friendship, and fairness and justice, drawing a blueprint for the development of SCO. China is ready to take the assumption of the SCO presidency as an opportunity to carry forward the Shanghai Spirit with other member states, focus on cooperation and actions, and build an even closer SCO community with a shared future.

Zhang Ming thanked the leaders of member states for their trust and China's support as the host country of the Secretariat, saying that the Shanghai Spirit has strong vitality and he believes that with the promotion of China as the SCO presidency, SCO cooperation will achieve more results and benefit more people.
