Manchester city centre is expected to be busy this weekend, so much so that the public are being asked not to drive in

The Bee Network has issued the warning ahead of a bumper weekend which sees Sir Paul McCartney perform at Co-op Live and Man City face Man Utd at the Etihad Stadium. The city centre will also be busy with people doing Christmas shopping and visiting the Christmas markets.

As well as these events, five performances of Disney On Ice will take place at the AO Arena. Three of these are on December 14, with two on December 15.

As a result of all of these events, thousands of people will be passing through the city centre. The Bee Network is calling on fans and shoppers to leave their cars at home and travel through Manchester via public transport.

On social media, the Bee network posted helpful maps of the city centre to show the busiest spots. They also show the venues where the big events will be taking place.

There are almost 40 park and ride stops around Greater Manchester with connections into the city centre. These have either trains, buses, or trams that can take passengers directly into Manchester, and the full list of these can be found on the Bee Network website.
