Alexis Mac Allister wants Mo Salah to continue at Anfield
Speaking to *AS ahead of his side’s Champions League encounter against Girona,*Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister made his feelings clear about teammate Mo Salah and his uncertain future at the club.
“He inspires us a lot, on and off the pitch. He is an example of work and dedication, always looking to give the best of himself. He is a very hard-working person who gives everything to play football.
“On the pitch you can see: Salah has that personality of always going for more, and when you have him by your side, you know that he is a player who will give you assists or score goals. Hopefully he can continue like this, because he is one of the most important players for our team.
“Hopefully he can continue next year at Liverpool. I want the negotiations to be able to come to a successful conclusion. He looks happy here; He is a legend of the club. It would be ideal if he could finish his career here, but these are very personal decisions and it also depends on the club doing their analysis or making a decision.”

Salah remains one of the most prolific forwards in Europe this season with 15 goals and 12 assists to his name in 21 appearances across all competitions.
The Egypt international’s future remains in doubt, with Barcelona touted to make a move for him in the coming weeks.
Wishful thinking
Liverpool cannot be beholden to the whims of emotional entanglements beyond a certain point. The fans want Salah to stay. The players want Salah to stay. Pretty sure Salah himself would like to stay. None of this is surprising.
But what is also not surprising is Liverpool’s reputation of operating prudently when it comes of player acquisition and turnover—a reputation they have had to work the better part of a decade for. They are not going to throw all of that away by being held ransom to demands of an ageing player, regardless of how much of a legend he may be at the club.
At best, Liverpool should offer Salah a two-year deal with option for a one-year extension. A mild bump on his £350k-per-week salary would also be reasonable, but if the player still does not want to stay, they’re better off bidding him farewell in May.
