Wolves are gearing up for a busy transfer window as they aim to secure their Premier League survival.
The Wanderers find themselves 19th in the table after losing 2-1 to West Ham on Monday, with pressure on Gary O’Neil now at an all-time high.
Despite how poor the Old Gold have been this term, Wolves still want O’Neil in charge for the Ipswich game, and that decision could prove detrimental come the end of the campaign.
Should the 41-year-old remain in the dugout once the January window opens, Wolves are targeting a new centre-back after failing to replace Max Kilman in the summer.
A defender is the only position they’re set to target unless they manage to sell some players, with Fabrizio Romano confirming interest in one star.

Fabrizio Romano confirms several clubs want Wolves star Hwang Hee-chan
To say Wolves are in a perilous position at the bottom of the table, they have multiple quality players who are attracting interest, including forward Hwang Hee-chan.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Hwang ‘remains on the list’ of several clubs for 2025, despite the South Korean failing to score or assist in 11 matches last term.

In the summer, the 28-year-old was considered untouchable, and Wolves had no plans to sell Hwang amid interest from Marseille.
This was after the talented forward scored 12 Premier League goals last term, with Marseille bidding £21m for Hwang as a result.
Now, with the player out of form, Wolves could cash in on the former RB Leipzig star to release some much-needed funds.
What Hwang said after Marseille interest in the summer
Romano isn’t the only one who has reported interest in the attacker, as journalist Nathan Judah previously claimed Hwang was the subject of transfer enquiries ahead of January.
With the South Korean international only starting twice this term, it appears other clubs appreciate his talent, as he was an unused substitute in the defeat to West Ham.
Hwang could regret not leaving Wolves now after struggling to nail down a place in O’Neil’s plans, despite their torrid form, but in the summer, his thoughts towards Wolves were the complete opposite.

In September, Hwang said O’Neil convinced him to stay at Wolves as the pair developed a strong relationship with each other.
“I had a big decision to make this summer,” he said. “Marseille made an offer for me and I spoke to Gary [O’Neil] many times and I had De Zerbi calling me almost every day.
“I trusted the gaffer, he said to me I was a very important player and he gave me some belief.
“After he said that I said I would stay and give everything.
“As long as Wolverhampton wants me then I will stay and fight for our team because I want to help my team and my team-mates.”
In the aftermath of the summer window, the ‘special’ Hwang, as dubbed by Bruno Lage, appeared happy to stay at Molineux but perhaps his stance has now changed amid struggles for form.
