Man Utd's'unsellable'players named ahead of major squad overhaul

A list of players key figures at Manchester United deem 'unsellable' has thrown the futures of many first-team stars at Old Trafford into doubt.

Ruben Amorim became the first new head coach appointed by the new INEOS regime when he replaced Erik ten Hag and the Portuguese boss is expected to put his mark on the squad in the upcoming transfer windows.

Ten Hag was heavily backed in the summer as the club brought in Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazzraoui and Manuel Ugarte, but United's change in formation means new options are bound to be targeted in January and later in the summer.

Sky Sport Germany claim more than half of the current squad are candidates to be moved on over the next year or so, with just a handful of players considered vital to on-field developments moving forward.

New arrivals Mazraoui, De Ligt and Yoro make that list alongside Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo and Andre Onana, but homegrown forward Marcus Rashford isn't named.

It's been reported in recent days that United are "open to top offers" for the England international, who has been out of sorts since the 2022/23 season when he scored 30 goals in all competitions.

Rashford is one of the top-earning players at United and, with INEOS keen to cut costs in a variety of ways, his departure could free up space on the wage bill.

Other prominent stars like Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro, Diogo Dalot and Antony aren't named, but United will find securing buyers for unwanted players difficult in the January transfer window.

That process won't have any input from former sporting director Dan Ashworth, whose exit from the club after just five months was confirmed earlier this week.
