Liverpool loanee Ben Doak continues to impress in the Championship with the Reds having a decision to make about his short-term future in the upcoming January transfer window. The 19-year-old joined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan in the summer, and has gone from strength to strength.

Doak has established himself as a regular in Michael Carrick’s starting line-up. In his 15 appearances so far, he has scored once and provided five assists.

He has earned praise for his performances as Middlesbrough look to retain their place in the Championship play-off places and close the gap on the automatic spots. The Reds have an option to recall the winger when the January transfer window opens, something that is causing concern for Middlesbrough with Doak being described as the ‘most threatening player’ in the league.

“I like everything about him,” former Middlesbrough defender Gary Pallister told bonuscodebets. “He’s tenacious, he can drive inside and out with the ball.

“He asks questions of the defenders. He’s not afraid! He’ll get whacked and get back up and he’s got a bit of devilment in him. He’s a real threat.

“Liverpool can call him back in the new year which has me a little concerned because he’s making a real difference to Middlesbrough. He’s probably the most threatening player in the division at the moment.”

The team fell to a 3-1 defeat against league leaders Leeds United on Tuesday night with Doak playing the full 90 minutes. And his threat has not gone unnoticed by other Championship managers as they prepare to face him.

“If I didn't prepare my players for Doak or (Emmanuel) Latte Lath it would be the wrong man in this chair,” Leeds boss Daniel Farke said after Tuesday’s game. “We didn't have too much time to prepare but we spoke a lot.

“It's always one key topic. They have strikers who are scoring goals for fun and Doak who is creating a lot.”
