Olena Zelenska: Collaboration Between Ukrainian and Foreign Doctors Has Saved Hundreds of Lives in Ukraine
First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska delivered a video address to participants of the conference "Synergy for Health: Uniting Efforts for Global Change," held in Lviv.
The event focused on advancing international medical partnerships and innovations in education.
The International Medical Partnership was initiated last year during the Third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen. As part of this initiative, 57 cooperation memorandums have already been signed between Ukrainian and foreign hospitals.
“I was personally present at the signing of many of these memorandums. It’s a deeply moving moment, especially for our medical professionals, who sense the countless new opportunities this unique collaboration brings. But these opportunities extend beyond our healthcare system. The days when we were merely learners are behind us. The experience our doctors have now has come at an incredibly high price, but it is unique and often cutting-edge on a global scale,” the First Lady emphasized.
The healthcare institutions involved in these partnerships include multidisciplinary (including university) and pediatric hospitals, specialized oncology and psychiatric centers, and medical universities from 21 countries. On the Ukrainian side, healthcare facilities from 15 regions and Kyiv have joined the initiative.
“We all know that during wartime, there aren’t many bright moments. But saving lives is exactly that – a bright moment. And today, these moments are created through the international collaboration of doctors. When we say the world must know about Ukraine’s fight for freedom, it must also know about our medical professionals’ fight for every life,” Olena Zelenska concluded.
