Earlier today, we covered claims from South America that Manchester United have held talks with Cerro Porteño over a deal for Diego León. It was also stated the fee for the left-back would be around $4m.
The 17-year-old admitted he’s aware of Manchester United’s interest and Cerro Porteño vice-president confirmed approaches for him.
D Sports state Manchester United want to close the deal with the Paraguayan side for the youngster for $4m.
It’s claimed the Red Devils are in advanced negotiations but are still to finalise the details of the deal, likely the sell-on clause.
Journalist Uriel Iugt took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that León is ‘very close’ to joining the Premier League side.
He adds Ruben Amorim’s side are agreeing a deal with the South American club for $5m. The price quoted is slightly higher than what was reported earlier.
Whether Iugt is trying to jump on the bandwagon or this is a genuine update remains to be seen.
Whatever happens, León wouldn’t be able to play for Manchester United until he turns 18 years of age next April.
