Maresca drops important Chelsea star from travelling squad

Chelsea are set to play FC Astana tomorrow night in the UEFA Conference League. Enzo Maresca has now confirmed that Noni Madueke will not travel with the squad.

The Blues are doing really well under Enzo Maresca. They are sitting on second place in Premier League just 4 points behind Liverpool. In the Conference League they are on the first position.

Chelsea have won all of their 4 Conference League matches. Along with 12 points they have a solid goal difference of +15 which keeps them on top of table. As of now, they are clear favourites to win the Conference League this season.

Enzo Maresca confirms that Noni Madueke will stay in London

Chelsea will play FC Astana tomorrow and will have to travel to Kazakhstan for that. Enzo Maresca have picked his travelling squad and Madueke is missing from that. The Chelsea boss has confirmed that the 22 year old will stay at West London.

Madueke has been one of the most improved players for Chelsea this season. He has so far scored 6 goals and picked 2 assists in 17 games. The 22 year old is one of the Maresca’s main players and is playing regularly for the Blues. Stats and records are as per FOTMOB.

Madueke has so far started 12 Premier League games so far for Chelsea. But recently he has lost his starting position to Pedro Neto who also has been superb this season. Madueke now has the chance to start again against Brentford and hence will like to seize the opportunity.

The Blues will qualify directly for the round of 16 in Conference League. They will hope go maintain their 100% record and eventually lift the European trophy this season. It seems like they will not play in Conference League again next year. Infact, it seems they will not even play in Europa League as they are in strong position to play in Champions League.
