Sheikh Mansour donates 10,000 trees in support of 'Regreening our Mosques' initiative

His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, has donated 10,000 trees in support of the "Regreening our Mosques” initiative.

The initiative, launched by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat (GAIAEZ), in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, coincides with the UAE's 53rd Eid Al Etihad.

The initiative aims to plant trees in mosques' courtyards nationwide, promote environmental sustainability in alignment with the UAE's vision of balancing development and environmental protection.

Dr Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, attended the launching ceremony of the initiative in Abu Dhabi, along with Saeed Al Bahri Salem Al Ameri, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), and other officials.

They participated in planting trees in the courtyard of a mosque to mark the initiative's commencement.

Dr Amna Bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, emphasised that Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's donation of 10,000 trees to beautify mosque courtyards reflects his ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable environmental practices.

She noted the initiative aligns with the Plant the Emirates programme, inspired by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan's vision of greening the UAE.

Dr Al Darei praised Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's generous initiative, highlighting the wise leadership's ongoing support for charitable and community projects within and beyond the UAE.
