Darwin Nunez sends cryptic social media message after being substituted in Liverpool's 1-0 win vs Girona

Liverpool maintained their perfect record in the UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 win against Girona away from home.

Mohamed Salah wrote further history for the Reds as his second-half penalty meant he became the first-ever Liverpool player to score 50 European goals.

Just a solitary goal was scored on the night, but Girona gave a good account of themselves and were unlucky not to get a result.

While Salah grabbed the headlines with his goal, Darwin Nunez came under the limelight as he drew a blank again.

And the Uruguayan has taken to Instagram to share a cryptic message after his latest performance.

With Salah and Luis Diaz either side of him, Nunez led the line for Liverpool and failed to score once again.

He fluffed one fantastic chance in the first half as he hit the ball straight at Paulo Gazzaniga, while moments earlier, he failed to head the ball to a teammate after finding himself in a fantastic position inside the box.

Luis Garcia feels Nunez lacks composure in front of goal as he drew another blank for the Reds as fans and pundits slated him for another underwhelming showing.

Nunez was substituted in the second half and after the game, fans were left scratching their heads as his spirited showing once again didn’t lead to the desired end product.

In the wake of those claims, Nunez has responded with a message on social media with the caption: “They are not all, they are some. Thank you Reds for your support, we are all still together.”

Nunez didn’t look happy when he was substituted by Liverpool as he was given a consoling pat on the back by Arne Slot.

Nunez’s stats vs Girona

Garcia wasn’t the only one to pinpoint the Uruguayan’s frailties after the game.

Stephen Warnock also criticised Nunez for his performance in the first half as he missed a glorious chance to give his side the lead.

As seen below, his underlying numbers from the game don’t make for impressive reading.

71 minutes played

We’re not quite sure what Nunez meant with his latest social media post, but it certainly looks like a message to his critics that he shall not be moved.

Nevertheless, the enigmatic striker needs to do his talking on the pitch and deliver the goods consistently for Liverpool if he is to save his career at Anfield.
