Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has admitted that Bukayo Saka is currently his favorite Gunners player. While speaking about the England international, he claimed to have a soft spot for the left-footed winger.

The decision may not have been straightforward with other superstars William Saliba and Martin Odegaard also currently at the club. Speaking to BBC Sport about why he picks Saka over anybody else in the team, Henry stated (via The Boot Room):

“I have a soft spot for him. He’s my favourite player. He’s been there for a long time too. I never thought he was going to reach the level that we’re saying he’s just a starter for England and a starter for Arsenal."

"I remember when he started at the beginning he was playing wing back, the evolution of his game is just outstanding. He used to be lively, then difficult to defend against, then assists, then goals, then goals and assists," he added.

Saka is also a class apart on the pitch and has been contributing heavily to the Gunners' cause this season. He's made 20 appearances across competitions this campaign, bagging seven goals and 11 assists.

The 23-year-old came up the ranks at Arsenal and has gone on to make 246 appearances across competitions for the senior team. He's scored 65 goals in these matches and has registered 61 assists.

Bukayo Saka

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has suggested that Bukayo Saka needs to start improving his ability on free kicks. Currently, Martin Odegaard is the player who stands over close-range dead-ball situations for the Gunners.

However, Saka has shown that he's more than capable of taking set pieces and plays a vital role in delivering the north Londoners' corner routines. He also stands over the dead ball when it needs to be crossed from the right-hand side.

Speaking to BBC Sport on things that the attacker could improve, Henry stated (via Arsenal Insider):

“I challenged him the other day: ‘You need to take free-kicks now’. He’s got to work a bit on his free-kicks.”

The Gunners aren't solely reliant on Saka for quality in these situations, with Odegaard and Declan Rice also more than capable. Saka's only goal from a free kick came in the Gunners' 2-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain this year.
