Hanworth Villa, in fifth place in Pitching In Isthmian South Central at kick off, knew that they could climb to third if they could defeat Hayes & Yeading United- but also knew that defeat would see them drop to sixth, their visitors replacing them in the top five. The Villains were looking for a fifth consecutive win- and as it turned out, they got it. They had a perfect start as Sam Merson headed home a Sam Mead corner after just five minutes, and on the hour Mead found the bottom corner to make it two-nil after fine work from Merson, returning the favour.
The Villains indeed ended the night in third, United in seventh- and Villa also did a derby double over their West London rivals.
