Valuable Liverpool star urged to join Chelsea next year

Former Reds star Jason McAteer has told one Liverpool player to join Chelsea next year. The player in question is Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher who has been linked with Chelsea.

McAteer said that this deal is needed to help the Liverpool star in having a career. He believes that the player cannot have a career if he stays at Anfield.

The 26 year old has been very important for the Reds in the recent years. Whenever Allison is injured or absent, Kelleher has filled in his shoes and performed really well.

Despite showing good form, Kelleher is still not the regulat starter. He is sidelined quickly as expected whenever Allison comes backs. Kelleher would have hoped to succed Allison once he moves away from Liverpool.

But now, The Reds have signed another keeper to replace Allison. They signed Georgi Mamardashvili and he will very likely be given starting role next year. This has diminished the chances of Kelleher becoming main keeper at Anfield.

Liverpool legend tells Kelleher to join Chelsea next year

The Blues are very likely to move on from Robert Sanchez. The Spaniard has failed to impress so far and fans too are demanding the club to replace him. Sanchez is very likely to move away next year and the Blues are keeping tabs on Caoimhin Kelleher to replace him.

Jason McAteer has said that Kelleher has got to the point in his career where he needs to make a big decision. He added that the 26 year old needs to move away from Liverpool in order to have a career rather than sitting on the bench.

Later, McAteer said that Chelsea are a big club but Sanchez is not a big club. He urged the Blues to sign Kelleher instead who’s value has risen in the recent years. As of now, Kelleher will surely be an upgrade upon Sanchez.

“You’re probably maybe looking in the region of 30 to 40 million for him. With Mamardashvili coming in, I think that’s saying to him ‘Go and have a career’.” – McAteer speaking to beIN Sports.
