3 players who could leave Leicester City in the January transfer window

As the new year draws closer and closer, here are three players who could leave Leicester City in the January transfer window.

Leicester City will hopefully be active in the January transfer window, the first opportunity for Ruud van Nistelrooy to pump his own philosophy into the club. However, such is the nature of the game, the Foxes might have to think about offloading a few players first, before they bring any in.

While it is not a nice thought for Leicester fans to think about losing some players, it could serve the club well if upgrades are brought in. That said, here are three players who could leave Leicester City in the January transfer window.

1. Odsonne Edouard (contract terminated)

Without a doubt, the most likely player to leave Leicester in January is Odsonne Edouard. In fact, this is already believed to be Leicester's plan.

Edouard is not a bad player, he was just a strange signing. Despite there being more hype around his name when he signed on loan in the summer, both Jordan Ayew and Jamie Vardy are ahead of him in the pecking order.

If Leicester City cut Edouard's loan deal short in the January transfer window, it would open up another slot for a Premier League player to come in on loan.

2. Danny Ward (sale)

If the expected time frame is met, then Polish goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk should return from injury in the new year. This would only mean that Danny Ward is considered less desirable by Leicester.

Given that Ward is out of contract in the summer, there is not much point keeping him on the books. The fee that Leicester could pick up for his sale would be small, but it outweighs the cost of keeping him at the club and likely not playing any games before the season's over.

3. Wout Faes (sale)

Bit of an early shout here but with the way things are going, it doesn't look like Wout Faes is involved in the long-term plans of Ruud van Nistelrooy. It's only been two games but the centre-back has been on the bench for both of them.

Selling a former first-team player might seem nonsensical but the Foxes must strike while the iron's hot. Faes deserves to be starting elsewhere, after all.
