Chelsea transfer news: Blues 'negotiating Cesare Casadei loan exit' with Serie A club

Chelsea are allegedly already discussing a loan exit for Cesare Casadei ahead of the January transfer window.

The midfielder was surprisingly reintegrated back into the senior fold at the end of the summer courtesy of failing to secure a suitable exit away from Stamford Bridge.

However, the Italy Under-21 international has proven to be a useful option in cup competitions, making three starts and two substitute outings in the EFL Cup and Conference League.

Nevertheless, Chelsea have decisions to make over how they wish to progress with the 21-year-old's development courtesy of his lack of game time during 2024.

Serie A move in the offing?

In total, Casadei has featured for just 405 minutes in Chelsea's first team since being recalled from his productive loan stint at Leicester City - then with Enzo Maresca as head coach - in January.

Therefore, it makes logical sense for a loan move to be secured for a player who Maresca has seemingly enjoyed developing upon their reunion at Stamford Bridge.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport, there has been progress in loan discussions with Monza.

The report suggests that the Serie A outfit are eager to have the former Inter Milan starlet available from the start of 2025.

With Chelsea concluding the League Phase of the Conference League on December 19, Casadei will only earn more game time before the end of the year should Chelsea suffer a number of injuries to their midfield contingent.

Earlier this week, it was also claimed that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall had emerged as a target for at least two Premier League clubs, yet it is unrealistic to expect Chelsea to part ways with two players from their engine room.

Monza the ideal move?

Despite starring for Italy at several age ranges, Casadei is without an appearance in his nation's top flight.

While Chelsea may have preferred for Casadei to move to a higher-profile team, Casadei would likely be a certain starter for a club in Monza who have won just one of their first 15 league fixtures.

Although Alessandro Nesta plays with a back three, Chelsea may prioritise the probable game time over not necessarily playing in a similar system to Maresca's.
