Ex-Premier League Midfielder Says Arsenal Should Sign £115M-Rated Striker To Replace Kai Havertz

Former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara has said that Arsenal should sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Isak has been linked over a move to the Emirates in recent months as the Gunners are looking to sign a striker to help with their title fight against Liverpool and outsiders Chelsea.

The Gunners currently sit third in the Premier League table, six points off Liverpool after they dropped points in a 1-1 draw against Fulham at the weekend.

However, they don’t have an out-and-out striker as things stand with Kai Havertz playing the role up front. Isak has generated interest from the Gunners and title rivals Chelsea.

O’Hara believes that the Newcastle striker would make the difference for the Gunners in their pursuit of a Premier League title.

He told Grosvenor Sport: “Arsenal need a striker, it’s as simple as that,” he said. “I like Kai Havertz. He’s a good player, but he will not win you the Premier League. He can chip in here and there, but you need a goal scorer that’s going to get you 25 or more goals a season.

“That’s the difference at this level, Arsenal should look to sign a player like Alexander Isak, they’ve got the money and that is clearly the position in their team that needs improving on. Arsenal don’t have their Erling Haaland or Mohamed Salah that will win you a league title, Bukayo Saka can produce but you need a striker that can do it as well.”

Arsenal linked to several top strikers for January transfer

The Gunners are rumoured to be interested in multiple world class strikers with Isak being one of the possible transfer targets.

Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has also been heavily linked to Arsenal with reports suggesting as early as July that the Gunners were keen to sign the Sweden international.

Furthermore, Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig and Mateo Retegui from Atalanta have also been touted as possible Arsenal signings in the January transfer window.
