David Beckham asked about Sir Alex Ferguson’s four‘world-class’Man Utd players, he didn’t hesitate with his response

David Beckham had an incredibly powerful reaction after he was asked about Sir Alex Ferguson leaving him out of his four “world-class” Manchester United players.

One of the ‘Class of ‘92’ breakout stars, David Beckham rose through the ranks of the youth academy before making his presence felt in the first team in the 1990s.

The 49-year-old Manchester United legend became a key figure under Sir Alex Ferguson and Beckham transcended the sport with his superstar ascendency.

Beckham made 391 appearances for the Red Devils and the United legend scored 85 times and registered 121 assists during his remarkable spell at Old Trafford.

The former England captain lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and two FA Cups during his prolific United playing career.

Beckham also had a sensational impact during the treble-winning season, including his two assists in United’s win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The United legend’s incredible exploits in the 1998-99 season for the treble winners saw him finish second in the race for France Football’s Ballon d’Or award in 1999.

Beckham’s response to Ferguson’s world-class players

David Beckham’s run at Old Trafford came to an end in 2003 after his relationship fractured with former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The United and England legend signed for Real Madrid and Beckham lifted a La Liga title with Los Blancos before leaving the Spanish capital in 2007.

Beckham moved to the States and signed for LA Galaxy, with the former England international spending two separate loan spells with AC Milan.

The ex-United winger had a brief spell with Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 before calling it time on his legendary playing career.

Despite his incredible success as one of United’s iconic No 7s under Ferguson, Beckham failed to make the Scotsman’s picks for his four world-class stars.

Beckham was asked if he was “insulted” by Ferguson leaving him out and the United legend showed the ultimate class with his response.

“Not at all,” he told BBC News in 2015.

“I played for the greatest manager of all time for the amount of time that I did.

“I was lucky to have played with the players that I did and the team and be successful with the club that I loved and still love.

“So, I tend to agree with the manager, there are certain players that you can call world-class. Thankfully, I played with many of them.”

Who are Ferguson’s four world-class Man Utd players?

Ferguson is widely regarded as one of the best managers of all time and the United legend called it time on his remarkable managerial career in 2013.

United have failed to lift the Premier League title since Ferguson’s triumph with the Red Devils in the 2012-13 season.

Speaking in his 2015 autobiography ‘Leading,’ Ferguson was deeply critical of how the world was “awash” with alleged ‘world-class players’ at the time.

Despite the roster of players he managed, Ferguson singled out Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo as his four world-class stars.

“In my book there are only two world-class players playing today: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo,” he said.

“I don’t mean to demean or criticise any of the great or very good footballers who played for me during my 26-year career at United, but there were only four who were world class: Cantona, Giggs, Ronaldo and Scholes.

“And of the four Cristiano was like an ornament on the top of a Christmas tree.”

Ferguson added: “If you read the papers or listen to the television commentators, we seem to be awash with ‘world-class’ footballers.”
