All the latest Manchester United transfer news, rumours and gossip, as Fabrizio Romano reveals a likely January signing, Viktor Gyokeres nears the exit at Sporting CP and Marcus Rashford finds himself under threat.
Romano reveals Amorim’s first signing
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United are in “active talks” to secure the first signing of the Ruben Amorim era.
Romano has stated that the Red Devils are making a move to sign Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon.
Taking to X, he said: “Manchester United are in active talks with Cerro Porteno for 17-year-old left back Diego Leon as talent for the future.
“Similar to Sekou Koné deal last summer, Man Utd keep looking at talents from abroad and $4m deal is being discussed also with León’s agents.”
Diego Leon could not hook up with the Old Trafford club until next summer because he only turns 18 in the spring.

Gyokeres drops new transfer hint
Sporting CP have been in a state of crisis since Ruben Amorim departed for Manchester United, with the Lisbon club losing four straight matches.
After the latest of these – a 2-1 reverse against Club Brugge in the Champions League – striker Viktor Gyokeres launched a surprising attack on the club’s fans, who threw objects at the players following the full-time whistle in Belgium.
The in-demand hitman said: “It’s sad that they threw things at us when we’re trying to win every game.
“We go out on the pitch and that’s all we want to do. It’s not a fun time for us and I understand it’s difficult for them too, but it will be easier if we turn this around together.”
Man Utd are one of the teams monitoring the striker, and his increasingly frustrated manner suggests a January transfer is becoming increasingly possible for the €100 million striker.

Man Utd in the market for a left-back but…
One area where Manchester United are set to be active in the January transfer window is the left-back area, but the Daily Mail warns that financial constraints mean that the options for Amorim are likely to be limited in this regard.
United also want to sign a striker next month, although there are no indications of who that might be.
’Half the squad’ transfer listed
Around half the Manchester United squad is up for sale while the Red Devils are open to bids for attacker Marcus Rashford during the January transfer window, according to Sky Sport Deutschland.
Florian Plettenberg reported on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Internally, Manchester United agree that over half of the players in the squad are serious candidates for sale in the winter or summer if good offers come in. Ruben Amorim is to be given the opportunity to make a rebuild, which will require urgent sales.
"Currently, players considered unsellable include Diallo, Mainoo, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Yoro, Onana, and 2-3 other key players."

Rashford lifestyle concerns
One of the reasons that Rashford is up for sale is there are “lifestyle concerns” over the England forward, according to The Telegraph.
It claims that Rashford is “fighting to save his Manchester United career” with claims that the club are open to receiving offers for him.
A report from GiveMeSport claims that Barcelona are interested in the forward, though given the wealth of talent that the Catalans have at their disposal in the areas in which he primarily plays – including the in-form Raphinha – such a deal would come as a huge surprise.
Lisandro Martinez to Real Madrid?
Lisandro Martinez could be allowed to leave Man Utd to sign for Real Madrid in January, according to TalkSport.
Los Blancos have been hit by a string of injuries this season and already looked light at the back before these issues arose. Now they are rumoured to be interested in the Erik ten Hag signing – and the Red Devils could allow him to depart.

“Martinez is one of a number of Premier League stars being tracked by the Spanish giants, along with top summer target and Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold,” it states.
“While Martinez is seen as a fan favourite in the eyes of many United followers and viewed as one of the few success stories from recent transfer windows, TalkSport understands the Argentine is not considered off limits for any potential buyer.”
It is also reiterated that Martinez’s Man Utd team-mate Diogo Dalot could become a target could the Bernabeu side miss out on Alexander-Arnold.
