The Kansas City Chiefs signed Hollywood Brown to play a substantial role on the offense in his first season in Kansas City. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when Brown injured his left shoulder during the first quarter of their preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars and went to the hospital, where he was later released. Tests determined that he suffered a sternoclavicular joint dislocation.
Brown missed the season-opener against the Baltimore Ravens and underwent surgery ahead of Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. As a result, the Chiefs placed him on injured reserve, fearing that he would miss the entire regular season. However, they were hoping he could return for the postseason.

As Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported in early December, Hollywood Browns’ rehab is going well. Rapoport also points out that Brown has an appointment with his surgeon during Week 15 (this week), hoping to give him final clearance for a return to the football field this season. They have their sights set on a possible return in Week 16 or 17.
“Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, the electric wide receiver who was among the biggest acquisitions of the 2024 offseason, is expected back soon from his preseason shoulder injury, and sources say it’s likely that he plays before the regular season ends,” Rapoport said, via NFL.com.
“Brown has an appointment in Week 15 with his surgeon to potentially gain final clearance, per sources. At that point, if all goes as well as it has been, he’s expected back on the practice field and could even play in Weeks 16 or 17.”

According to Nate Taylor of The Athletic, the Kansas City Chiefs will designate Hollywood Brown for a return this week, effectively opening his 21-day practice window in the process. Brown has 21 days to practice with the team before he can return to the active roster, or else he reverts to season-ending injured reserve. As Taylor points out, the expectation is for the former 1,000-yard receiver to practice this week, an exciting development.
