The Washington Commanders are in a good spot to punch their ticket to the postseason in Dan Quinn's first season as head coach...but he's not about to get ahead of himself.
The Commanders still have four games to navigate, and at 8-5, things can still go pear-shaped in the last month.
We have already seen that play out after the Commanders raced to a 7-2 record and then had a three-game losing streak before snapping that against the Tennessee Titans before the bye.
So, while it might be natural for a team not used to making the postseason in recent years (just one playoff appearance in last nine years), Quinn isn't about to start looking head - he's being where his feet are.
"There's zero chance we're talking about four weeks down the road, but what I can tell you...is that we really try to stay into the here and now," Quinn said of what is powering the push.
There are still some tough assignments for the Commanders on their schedule, with the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, and the Dallas Cowboys to come, so there are no "easy" games for Quinn's unit.

After having such a successful season to this point, the last thing that Quinn and his team want is to have a poor last month that wipes away all the good work that was achieved and potentially miss out on the playoffs.
It is clear that Quinn is doing his best to keep the roster focused on the "one week at a time" mantra in the hope that they can finish the season in good form and be rewarded with playoff football for the first time since 2020.
