Manchester United are assessing their options ahead of the upcoming January and summer transfer windows.
A number of new transfer reports have been doing the rounds ahead of the upcoming transfer windows, as Manchester United move forward in this new chapter.
Following the arrival of Ruben Amorim, the Red Devils have had a mixed bag of results, and a blockbuster clash with rivals Manchester City is fast approaching. United are currently 13th in the Premier League table and need to pick up the pace in collecting points if they want to close the gap on those challenging for the top four.
Over the summer, the club were reportedly open to selling the majority of the first team as a huge squad overhaul looked likely. United did part ways with the likes of Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek but others remained on the books, despite reports heavily suggesting their departure.
Players including Harry Maguire and Casemiro were in the headlines for months as speculation swirled around their futures. It has recently been reported that the latter is closer to leaving Old Trafford following Amorim’s arrival and Maguire will be put on the market in January in order to avoid activating his extension clause.

Despite signing Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt during the summer, United remain on the market for new defensive options and the desire to sign Jarrad Branthwaite is still burning. According to the Daily Mail, the Reds could reignite their pursuit of the Everton star in January, following their strong links over recent months.
Branthwaite was one of United’s leading targets over the summer but Everton stood firm on not letting him leave the club. Initial reports claimed the Toffees had slapped a £100 million price tag on the defender and they reportedly still value him in excess of £75 million.
It will likely still take a lot to convince Everton to part with Branthwaite, especially halfway through the season. However, other clubs have been backed to sign the rising star and former Evertonian Richard Dunne believes he would be a good fit for rivals Chelsea.
“From watching him play, obviously Jarrad Branthwaite had that period at PSV, who are a huge club over in Holland, so he's had that experience of playing for a team that is expected to be up the top end of the table. I certainly think he can do that no problem — I don’t have any concerns about his ability to play for a club that are expected to win more football games than they lose and challenge for titles,” Dunne told LondonWorld.
“I think a few clubs will be looking at him. If Manchester United’s interest has moved on with all of the changes that are happening at the club, then I think a team like Chelsea would definitely be interested in him. I think he has the right kind of profile to play for them and any if the tip four clubs.
“He's such a good player, left-footed centre back, they don’t come around very often. I do think that there will be a line of clubs trying to sign him. Maybe not so much in January, but I think next summer, Everton will have questions to answer. Can they afford to keep him? Are they ambitious enough to convince him to sign a new contract?”
While Everton are above the relegation zone at the moment, they have still endured some tough fixtures so far this season. Chelsea are currently Liverpool’s closest title rivals at the top of the table, after leapfrogging Arsenal into second place over the weekend.
