**A shock Premier League manager has been named as the best pick for Fantasy Premier League managers using the new 'Assistant Manager' chip.**
After five months of waiting, FPL managers finally found out exactly what the 'mystery' chip added to the game this season will do.
The chip, which has been revealed as the Assistant Manager, allows FPL players to [add a Premier League manager to their squad to earn points for three consecutive gameweeks.](https://www.sportbible.com/football/gaming/fpl-mystery-chip-assistant-manager-announced-279697-20241211)
And now, the best manager to choose when playing the chip has been revealed, and it may surprise you.
The Assistant Manager chip will become available in January, and according to a data gather by Fantasy Premier League, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola would have been the best pick for FPL players had they been able to use the chip earlier in the season.
Overall, the Spaniard would have earned a total113 points across the season so far, with his best three-gameweek score adding up to a valuable 47 points.
FPL managers would have earned Iraola's 47 points if they could have played the chip during gameweeks 8-10, when Bournemouth produced two massive upset wins over Arsenal and Manchester City, as well as a draw with Aston Villa.
Many Premier League fans may have assumed that managers like Arne Slot, who has impressed since joining Liverpool in the summer, may be the best option when playing the chip, but it appears that this may not be the case.
The data revealed by FPL show that players that are prepared to take a risk and back managers against opponents who are placed at least five positions above them in the table have the chance of earning some massive point hauls.

The Assistant Manager chip will award FPL players six points for each win their chosen manager gets with three for a draw, two for a clean sheet and one point for every goal.
However, managers who face a club five or more places higher in the Premier League table at the start of the Gameweek could earn even more points.
Should one of these managers beat the higher-ranked side, they will get an extra 10 points, so 16 in total, or an additional five points for a draw, so eight in total.
And it is exactly this rule that led to Iraola's high score as between gameweeks 8-10, his side scored five goals and conceded just two as they secured two wins and a draw over sides ranked more than five places above them in the Premier League table.
