Liverpool are now on the verge of making the knockout stages of the Champions League after making it six wins out of six in the group phase.
Arne Slot’s Reds remain top of the table after running out 1-0 winners on their game away at Girona on Tuesday night.
Liverpool had to ride their luck in the early stages of the match, but did enough to triumph thanks to a Mohamed Salah penalty in the second half.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Alisson Becker delivered a superb display as he claimed a clean sheet on his return from a hamstring injury.
Slot, speaking after the game, shared his thoughts on Alisson and made a big claim about the keeper’s qualities.

Arne Slot deems Liverpool star Alisson ‘the best goalkeeper in the world’
Slot, speaking to TNT Sports after the game, said Alisson’s display showed why he rates the 32-year-old stopper so highly.
“Yeah maybe his teammates wanted to be sure he was really fit and to give him a lot of work,” he said.
“No, of course, that’s not the idea, but he showed today and I don’t think anybody needed him to show it today because I think everyone knows he’s the best goalkeeper in the world.
“He showed today that he definitely is this because he was so important for us with so many saves.”
Slot also praised the good work Kelleher delivered in the absence of Alisson, in quotes carried by the Reds media team.
“That has nothing to do with Caoimhin – he did so, so well,” said Slot.
“But Alisson has been so important for this club for so many years, for his country as well.
“[He] showed today that he’s probably one of the best, in my opinion the best goalkeeper in the world.
“And let’s hope he can keep continuing to bring these performances. Let’s hope even more that he can stay fit.”
Slot recently named Alisson in his all-time Champions League XI, saying he’s an “easy pick” for just how “outstanding” he has been over the years.
Alisson’s display against Girona showed just what a game-changer he is for the Reds, earning praise from several media outlets too.
Goal.com gave Alisson an 8 out of 10 for his efforts on the night.
“Back in the team after injury and looked like he’d never been away,” they wrote. “Made a string of important saves in an impeccable showing.”
Likewise, Liverpool.com went with an 8 out of 10 and wrote: “Came to Liverpool’s rescue three times in the first half and then just seconds into the second half.”
Liverpool World also went with an 8 out of 10 for Alisson as he shone against the Catalan outfit.
“Returning to the side after 11 matches on the sidelines, the Brazilian was called into action early and made a good save from Bryan Gil,” they wrote.
“He was needed a few more times in the first 45 minutes especially but showed no signs of needing to warm back into things after his period on the treatment table.”
