According to Politico, Meloni, the leader of the right-wing Brothers of Italy party, has established herself as a figure with whom Brussels, and now Washington, can do business. Her commanding leadership style has earned her recognition as Italy's "alpha" figure. She often outmanoeuvres opponents through her intellectual capacity and authoritative demeanour.

According to Politico, although classified as a right-wing leader in Europe, Meloni has established herself as a crucial EU stakeholder, balancing nationalist principles with practical governance, particularly regarding Ukraine and migration policies.
Meloni made headlines around the world when she became Italy’s first woman Prime Minister, but few predicted she would last long in office. Yet, over the past two years, Meloni has proven her critics wrong, consolidating her Government as one of the most stable ones to have existed in Italy.
Since her election in 2022, Meloni has introduced policies on issues like migration and LGBTQ+ rights that would once have drawn condemnation from Brussels.
Meloni began her political career as an activist in the youth wing of the neo-fascist Italian Social Movement and praised dictator Benito Mussolini as “a good politician who did everything he did for the good of Italy.” She has been on the forefront of a wave that is dragging European politics toward the far right, a movement characterized by its nationalist and anti-immigration stance.
