Bryan Bresee earned an NFL weekly honor after his late-game heroics vs the Giants

With a well-timed leap and a swipe of his hand, New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee preserved a win against the New York Giants in Week 14 — and he was awarded for his efforts.

Bresee was named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week after he blocked a potential game-tying field goal attempt in the closing seconds of the Saints' 14-11 win against the Giants.

This is the first weekly honor of Bresee's career.

His blocked field goal was one of several ways he impacted the game against the Giants. Bresee also recorded a sack, a tackle for loss and two pass breakups in the game.

Bresee has now recorded a sack in each of the last three games, and his 7.5 sacks on the season ranks second among NFL defensive tackles behind Pittsburgh's Cameron Heyward (8).
