Villarreal star Álex Baena has this week provided an insight into his future with the Yellow Submarine.
The name of midfielder/winger Baena has of course long proven a prominent one in the headlines across the Spanish media.
As much comes amid the understanding that the 23-year-old has made his way onto the wishlists of a whole host of clubs across the continent.
Barcelona, for one, have been [credited](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/baena-loco-barca-dia-mejor-109558045) with an interest in Baena’s services, amid the consensus that his technical gifts would be perfectly suited to a team like the Blaugrana.
Speaking in an interview with **[Marca](https://www.marca.com/futbol/villarreal/2024/12/11/baena-salir-villarreal-top10-mundial.html)** on Wednesday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the ongoing speculation surrounding his name was put to Baena himself.
And, though the Spanish international – who has notched three goals and five assists this season – was keen to reiterate his commitment to the cause at Villarreal, he also made clear that he would consider an exit for ‘a top 10 team in the world’:
“I try not to look too much at what is said, although I am getting some. What I am focused on is finishing the season at Villarreal and staying here, because that is where I am happiest. I am thinking about what I have to do now. I have always said that to leave Villarreal it has to be a better team. And for me that has to be a top 10 team in the world. Villarreal is the club of my life and if one day that offer comes we will sit down and talk and see what is best for both of us.”
