The futures of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah continue to dominate the discussions among Liverpool supporters. All three, as things stand, are out of contract with the Anfield club in June.
The situation surrounding their three star players has provided an unwanted story behind the Premier League title challenge and impressive results in the Champions League. Arne Slot's side claimed a 1-0 win over Girona in their most recent outing on Tuesday night.
However, talk after the win was still dominated by the contract situations with Van Dijk brutally shutting down an interviewer after again being asked about his Liverpool deal. And Reds supporters, writing in the comments section of John Aldridge's latest column, have had their say on the current situation their club finds themselves in.

Commenter Kw101 said: “This is modern footy, power is with the players now. I think Trent is on his way. He will be a loss, but we've had other top players go and it's not necessarily worked out - yet we have always managed to replace them. Too old now (in my 50s) to panic over this. There will always be another player and Liverpool are bigger. Pleased Mo and Virg look on the verge (pun not intended) of signing. VVD would be a big position to fill - hopefully in a couple of years, Konate will have his mantle.”
Reader Fidelis Fautor wrote: “Hopefully Trent will take the lessons learned from Coutinho, Can, Wijnaldum, Mane and Firmino. The grass is rarely greener. All three absolutely deserve new contracts, of varying length and salary. All of them have proven their worth to the club. I don't think there is a situation where the club would be better off without any of these three and vice versa. FSG need to just get it done.”
Joby said: “Absolutely critical that these three lads get the contracts they deserve. They will not 100% be replaced if their contracts are allowed to expire and Quansah and Bradley and Doak will become their replacements because they are much cheaper versions.
"Personally I think January will become our third transfer window in a row where absolutely nobody has been brought in to strengthen our squad, and I will feel incredibly sorry for Slot.”
