Antonio Conte reportedly wants to sign a Manchester United player for the second successive summer after the success of Scott McTominay at Napoli.
Manchester United‘s 2025 transfer plans are starting to take shape as Rúben Amorim begins to understand his Old Trafford squad.
The 39-year-old head coach has so far managed five games at the club, with his first win coming against Bodo Glimt in the Europa League, which was also his introduction to the Old Trafford stadium.

They also produced a dominant 4-0 win over Everton but fell short against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, and they have shared the points with Ipswich Town across his four Premier League ties so far.
There has been a lot of focus on the transfer activity that United will look to do across 2025, with a general admittance that the club will have to sell some big name stars in order to generate cashflow.
Conte wants Joshua Zirkzee
While a lot of noise has focused around the potential sale of Marcus Rashford in the coming summer window, there is another attacker who may find himself out of the exit door.
United signed Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee for just over £35 million, but he has failed to settle at the club properly and is attracting interest from multiple Serie A outfits.
According to the Italian outlet Il Mattino, Napoli manager Antonio Conte has given his side the “green light” to secure Zirkzee from the Old Trafford club, adding that the 23-year-old would be interested in a return to Italy.
Conte has remained a big fan of Zirkzee since he emerged at Bologna, but the player chose to sign for Manchester United in the summer – but considering the success Scott McTominay has had at Napoli since he switched to the continent, Napoli may be hoping for a repeat.
Speaking on why Conte wanted to bring the Scottish international to Italy, he said: “I try to pick the best players.
“We did well with Scott because he was not a starter at Manchester United, but I already knew him very well.
“We worked under the radar to bring him here. Of course everyone is eager to prove themselves and I am glad that we got it right choosing McTominay.”
