Report: 'Very good' Chelsea player could join European club on first day of January transfer window

One Chelsea player looks to be heading to the exit door, with a move early January seeming very much possible.

Given the size of Chelsea’s squad and the form that they are in, Enzo Maresca has not been able to give everyone minutes in the Premier League this season.

Christopher Nkunku, for example, has only made two starts in the top flight. The likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Cesare Casadei are yet to make any.

It has been claimed, though, that Chelsea are not desperate to offload Dewsbury-Hall next month.

Monza want Cesare Casadei as soon as possible

Chelsea signed Casadei from Inter Milan in 2022, and it looks like the midfielder could be returning to Italy soon.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Serie A club Monza want to sign Casadei on loan when the transfer window opens.

The Italian outlet claims that they could try to sign and register him by 2 January to have the 21-year-old available for their league game against Cagliari a few days later.

Former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino liked Casadei, describing his profile as “very good”, though that did not stop him from snubbing the former Inter player, while it has been the same story with Maresca.

Where are Monza with negotiations?

Monza do not look too far from agreeing a loan deal with Chelsea for Casadei, which is not too much of a shock.

The Italy U21 international is not playing right now, so you would expect him to be open to a move, especially to his homeland.

La Gazzetta dello Sport’s report claims that negotiations between Monza and Chelsea started a month ago and that a conclusion in discussions is only around the corner.

Casadei would have loved to have got more game time at Stamford Bridge this season, but that has just not been possible with Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia all being around.
