Drake Maye arrived in Foxborough to kickstart a new era of New England Patriots football.
He didn’t get to be coached by the legendary Bill Belichick, but he may have heard more than enough stories.
That’s why he would gladly welcome him to the Tar Heel family if he becomes UNC’s next football coach.
When asked about that, the former No. 3 pick claimed that it would definitely be “cool” to have a Hall of Fame coach going back to school to teach some of the kids (via Savage Sports).

Notably, not many people feel that way.
With the current landscape in college football, players making money and being able to transfer schools frequently, some believe they are entitled and less likely to fight hard for their spots.
That doesn’t sit well with someone like Bill Belichick, who lives and breathes football and will not change his old-school ways at this point in his life.
It’s shocking that Belichick is legitimately interested in coaching a college program, much less one that is less prestigious than other schools.
That might speak volumes about the level of interest – or lack thereof – he’s getting from actual NFL teams.
He clearly doesn’t want to stay away from the game for much longer; he craves it.
And as noble and admirable as that is, one cannot help but feel like he’s about to be the most overqualified head coach in college football history.
