Ex-Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson shared a touching message with a Manchester United-supporting sports star who crossed paths with him at Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson has remained an ever-present figure at Old Trafford long after his managerial retirement at Manchester United in 2013.
The iconic 82-year-old Scotsman has often been spotted in the stands watching matches, with the Red Devils struggling in the aftermath of his retirement.

Ferguson, who is regarded as one of the best managers of all time, enjoyed incredible success during his illustrious reign at Old Trafford.
The United legend lifted 13 Premier League titles with the Red Devils and also led the club to a famous continental treble win in the 1998-99 season.

Ferguson’s message to sports star
Luke Littler took the world of darts by storm and the 17-year-old Manchester United-supporting star enjoyed a fairy-tale run in the PDC World Darts Championship.
MORE UNITED STORIES
The British darts star defied the odds and reached the final of the World Darts Championship at the Alexandra Palace in London back in January.
However, Luke Littler’s dreams were crushed in the final after Luke Humphries beat him to the title in a thrilling 7-4 win at the World Darts Championship.
The darts player’s run during the World Darts Championship caught the eye of United and he was invited to Old Trafford in January for the Tottenham match.
Ahead of the 2-2 draw between United and Tottenham, Littler crossed paths with Sir Alex Ferguson and has revealed what the former manager told him.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, he said: “I didn’t really understand him […].
“I did hear him say, ‘stick at it.’”

Littler’s love for Man Utd
Luke Littler made an appearance at the Carrington training complex back in January and played darts against Christian Eriksen and Harry Maguire.
He shared his encounter with Ferguson on social media, while another post had him posing with a United shirt with ‘180’ on the back and his nickname ‘The Nuke’ on it.
Speaking to BBC Radio Manchester in January, Littler revealed that he received messages from past and present United players during his incredible darts run.
“I’ve got a lot of followers now. I’ve had a message off Luke Shaw, from Manchester United, from Rio Ferdinand, and I had a message off Gary Neville and Jonny Evans before my game against Barney [Raymond van Barneveld],” he said.
