Amad Diallo has done something very impressive in almost half the time as Cole Palmer this season

It could be argued that Amad Diallo has been one of Manchester United supporters’ primary reason to remain positive in recent weeks.

After all, Ruben Amorim has suffered a mixed start to life at United, winning and losing twice apiece while drawing one game.

Manchester United suffered a disappointing 3-2 defeat against Nottingham Forest in their latest outing, which was indicative of how much of a work-in-progress they remain as a side.

Amad Diallo, however, is a player who has seemingly found his feet under the Portuguese tactician.

Under Ruben Amorim, the Ivorian has started in five out of his five games in charge.

In March, Gary Neville questioned Erik ten Hag for barely giving any minutes to Diallo but as things stand, his lack of involvement truly seems like a thing of the past. Andre Onana lauded Diallo as one of Manchester United’s two most skilful players alongside Antony, indicating how naturally talented he has always been.

Amorim claimed Diallo’s progress was due to Ruud van Nisterlrooy playing a crucial role in his development.

Much like Geovany Quenda at Sporting CP, the 22-year-old is a left-footed right-wing back in Ruben Amorim’s system, which is perhaps the reason why he has become a key cog in his side.

Amad Diallo has as many Premier League assists as Cole Palmer in 505 less minutes

Diallo is clearly enjoying the trust that has been bestowed upon him, registering as many assists (six) in the Premier League as Cole Palmer this season.

▪️Mo Salah – 8 in 1229 minutes

However, what is even more impressive is that the Manchester United wonderkid (795 minutes) has matched the Chelsea midfielder’s (1300 minutes) tally while playing 61% less minutes in comparison, according to ESPN UK.

Enzo Maresca hailed Palmer by admitting that he “could be” the best player in the Premier League currently.

Jamie Carragher sang Palmer’s praises as well by going as far as to say that in the past 18 months, no player in the English top-flight has operated at the same standard as him.

Despite the Englishman’s undeniable brilliance, the fact that Diallo has as many league assists as him while playing almost half the same minutes is a sign that he could develop into an incredible creator.

Considering Manchester United are languishing in 13th place in the league table while Chelsea are flying in second position makes the statistic all the more staggering.

Diallo is two assists away from matching Bruno Fernandes’ 2023/2024 Premier League tally

As per FbRef, Bruno Fernandes was the United player with the most assists (eight) last season.

Diallo now has 23 league games left to equal the Portuguese international’s tally.

Ruben Amorim and Co have several tricky tests in store, facing the likes of Manchester City, Newcastle United and Liverpool in three out of their next five league games.

If Diallo can manage to chip in with important assists in such games, he could cement his place in Amorim’s side.

So far, the highly-rated trickster has showcased that he certainly has an eye for a pass.
