The company’s systems appear to have suffered a major technical issue at around 6pm UK time, or 10 am local pacific time.

But they appeared to quickly recover and most of the company’s apps appeared to be functioning as normal within the hour, though some did report problems with specific parts of certain apps.

According to Downdetector, Facebook outages were first reported at about 6pm on Wednesday and have reached more than 100,000 complaints of an issue.

WhatsApp, also owned by Meta, also saw thousands of reported disruptions around the same time.

The number of reports of Instagram outages also peaked at over 67,00 shortly after 6pm.

Meta has yet to comment on the outage.
